For anyone that has followed me for any length of time you know Help Portrait is one of my favorite charities!!! We started doing Help Portrait here in Greenville in 2010 and each year it has evolved and changed just a little bit. Well this year the format is changing pretty dramatically! For a few years Help Portrait grew and developed but the “idea” of Help Portrait kinda got lost in the extra stuff we were offering. So last year we scaled it back to bring focus and direction to what Help Portrait was created for in the beginning. The idea was always simple…. find a person/family in need, take their portrait, and gift it to them. So this year we are bringing it back to what we feel Help Portrait is all about and we need our local community to jump on board to help us! This year instead of setting up back drops and giving away one picture per person/family, we have asked local photographers to join with us and do something a little bit different. This year instead of the family/individual getting one picture they will be getting a complete mini session that lasts 20-30 minutes with a local professional photographer. As photographers, we are passionate about what we do and we know the value of images. We believe we are gifted with the ability to capture people in normal settings but give them extra ordinary images. And this year we have designed these sessions to allow us to give individuals/families the absolute best we possibly can. We are giving them not just one picture but a sequence of pictures that they can display and be reminded daily of how beautiful they are and how much value they have. And to make it even better, they will get a digital copy with unlimited personal printing rights to all of their finals images from the their session but our amazing friends at ASAP Photo & Camera have also agreed to print 1 4×6 copy of all their final images for them to keep for FREE!!!! Have I mentioned how much I love our photography community!!!
And this is where we need the community to help us. Currently with the help of the local photographers we are able to gift 37 (YES, THAT IS RIGHT…37) free mini sessions to 37 different families/individuals in need but we need you guys to help us find them. We are asking the community to nominate families/individuals that you feel would benefit from one of these sessions. There is not one circumstance that is right or wrong… we have met families that have lost their homes, parents that have fallen ill or have passed leaving families emotionally/financially burdened, jobs have suddenly been lost, individuals have relocated with nothing to escape abuse, addicts that have overcome their addiction and are looking for a fresh start, families have just reunited after years of separation , individuals that literally live check to check and its never been an option, and we have even met grown adults that have never had a portrait taken. So if you know of a family/individual that you feel would benefit one of these sessions we are asking you to send (in any format you want) an entry on their behalf and nominate them for one of these mini sessions. Now there are a few things you need to know so PLEASE keep reading!!!
#1 – The mini sessions that are being offered are on Sunday November 29th between the hours 2:00 – 4:30 at a local park. Each individual/family that is selected will be assigned a photographer and a time, they will not be able to select these on their own. Please make sure the individual/family you are nominating can make it on that day during those times. There will be no reshoots/reschedules for the individuals/families if they can not attend.
#2 – Submissions in written form must be 500 words or less. We want to know the stories and why this will benefit them but remember we likely will be reading many entries so please keep it within the guidelines if you are sending it in written form. Videos are accpeted as well. All entires MUST be recieved no later than Sunday November 22, 2015 at 11pm, no entries will be recieved after that point. The recipients will be announced/notified on Tuesday November 24, 2015. Please include a way to notify the person/family you are nominating, a working telephone number is great but email is also acceptable. All entries can be sent to email@example.com OR mailed to

**we are not responsible for lost entries**
#3 – And lastly, please include the names, number of people in the family, and (approx) ages of people you are nominating.
So get on this friends. Share it on your social media, email your friends, talk about it at work and in the community BUT more importantly get those nominations in!!!! We have amazing photographers that want to use their gifts to bless others but we need your help!! And just so you know, here our my fan-tab-u-los photographer friends that are joining with me to donate their time and talent for these sessions. I love these guys and their selfless act of giving to others……
